Pleasanton has made it big!

So, I grew up in this great town in northern California called Pleasanton.  I lived on Third Street and I can not tell you how many times I have walked the streets of downtown to get ice cream at the local dairy, watch a live band in the park, or go to a nice restaurant for dinner.  Downtown is so charming it feels like you are taking a stroll through a black and white movie.  Anyhow, Craig Ferguson (comedian) did an entire monologue on this town and I got the biggest hit out of it.  It made me smile the entire time.  Even if you have never lived or seen Pleasanton, you have to check this out.  It will give you a little idea of why I miss home so much: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jtEe93AWFM

Enjoy!

Saint Patricks Day

Mckaley had a party at her day school for Saint Patricks Day.  She got all dressed up in her fancy green dress and had a pot luck lunch.  After day school we decided to dance and around the house and take some pictures because she looked so darn cute.  After our short photo shoot we then ate corned beef and cabbage (my grandma would be proud) and watched some basketball.  Go Gaels!  It was a great day.

Potty Training- kind of

(while changing Mckaley's diaper)
Me: Wait, Mckaley, do you have to go Potty?
Mckaley: (smiles) Ya, poopies in the potty
Me: Okay, lets go
(take her to the toilet, where she proceeds to pee outside of the toilet.  Yes she was sitting down.  Yes she's a girl.  No, I'm not quite sure how she managed it)
Mckaley: uh-oh
Me: That's okay-you are doing a great job!  Way to go!  I'll wait until you are all done
Mckaley: I done
Me: You're sure?  No poo-poos?
Mckaley: No, bag of num nums (M&Ms) peeease!?
Me: No, you only get them if you say "mommy daddy I have to go potty" and then we will run you to the potty.  Then when you go in the potty you get num-nums
Mckaley: ok I do dat.
Me: Okay we will try again.  So you understand that there are no more poo poos in the diaper. Mommy only wants to see them in the toilet.  Understand?
Mckaley: Ya! No more diapers, then me get num-nums
Me: Right
(put her diaper back on, go out back to play, 1 minute later)
Mckaley: (screaming) Mommy daddy me go poo poo in me diaper!!! Yay!!! Num nums!!!
Me: (thinking) she really doesn't get this does she???????

Butterfly Garden

My mom was in town for the week and we decided to go to the Desert Botanical Gardens in Tempe.  I love glass art so I was very excited to see all the work that Chihuly had done for the gardens.  When we were looking online to see how much tickets cost, we found out they also had a butterfly garden exhibit.  We decided to take Mckaley's butterfly wings along with us.  The butterfly exhibit was nothing short of amazing.  There were hundreds of butterflies flying all about.  What was really neat was that the butterflies would just come right up and land on you.  Mckaley wasn't quiet sure of what to make of that, but she seemed to find it fascinating when a butterfly would be in my hair or on my mom's shoulder.  They even gave all of the kids this little board to track what types of butterflies they saw as they went along.  (PS:  Look at my lefty!!!)  Mckaley's wings were a also huge hit.  The older crowd especially like them!  Thanks for taking us on such a great trip mimi!

Spring is here!

Its the first day of March and spring has officially hit Arizona.  I have a feeling that this spring will be like no other I have experienced.  For, one I don't see any rain in our forecast.  We are now living in the dessert which mean, no rain coat for me this year - yay!  The weather has been amazing, around 83 degrees, so Tyler, Mckaley, and I have taken full advantage of it.  We have been outside playing pretty much everyday.  We bring out all our toys onto the driveway and ride bikes, write with chalk, play hoop, or whatever we can think of.  This past weekend we decided to do some work on the yard as well as take a trip to the zoo.  We had a blast doing both.  Except for the minor meltdown Mckaley had when we had to leave the zoo.  haha wish we got a picture of that.
